Team Dynamics
Team Dynamics is a page that is available for all teams on our Enterprise or Teams plans. Read more about Team Dynamics.
Key use cases
Intact Teams
Team Dynamics is most useful for intact teams that work together daily. These teams are well-established and everyone is engaged and included in most decision. When using Team Dynamics for teams like these, the insights will be more accurate than on teams where people who only rarely interact with the team are included.
Aperian understands that many people are on many teams, and we encourage users to compare and contrast why one team may receive different insights and suggestions than another. Every individual on the team can impact the way that teams operate, and Team Dynamics can offer insight into those impacts.
Onboarding
Team Dynamics is a key activity for onboarding a new team member. By inviting the team member to complete their Profile and join the team, their Profile is shared automatically with all team members and insights/suggestions are re-calculated. Team Dynamics can be used to foster a discussion around already-established team norms, expectations for communication, and lay a foundation of language that can used down the road to resolve conflict.
Limitations
Team Size
Team Dynamics is designed for teams between three and fifteen members. This ensures that all users are interacting directly and allows for insights that feel more specific and accurate. Team Dynamics only counts members that have completed their Profile, and won't show any insights for teams with two or less users with Profiles. However, as more users join your team, insights will update automatically.
Doesn't include Culture Profiles or Organization Averages
At this time, Team Dynamics does not allow for the inclusion of any GlobeSmart Guides cultural average profiles; this is unlike the original comparison feature. While team members cultures of origin can certainly impact how teams work together, they aren't an active participant and as such have been omitted from this feature.
For similar reasons, Team Dynamics calculations do not include any Organization or Segments averages. While these average Profiles can certainly impact how teams work, they are not active participants of the team itself.
Traditional Comparison
Aperian's longtime key feature has always been the GlobeSmart Profile, and with that the ability to compare your profile and receive detailed advice about working with that individual. Read more about the GlobeSmart Profile and Comparisons.
Key use cases
Creating 1:1 comparisons and viewing Advice
Whether working with a new colleague or wanting to improve collaboration with existing colleagues, viewing a comparison and 1:1 advice can help you understand key similarities and differences. Unlike Team Dynamics, comparisons can be created including people on or off your team in any combination.
A 1:1 comparison can allow you to dig deeper into how your different work styles will impact how you work together. This is the most robust amount of information Aperian offers on how people work together.
Comparing to Cultures
The traditional comparison allows users to compare their Profiles to any of our GlobeSmart Guides' included cultures. This comparison allows users to investigate how different cultures around the world have developed different norms around work and teamwork. Users can also compare cultures to discover how external partners not in Aperian may be influenced by cultural norms around work.
Comparing to Organization Averages and Segments.
Only relevant to Enterprise clients
A traditional comparison can be used to view Organization or Segments averages. These profiles are generated by getting the average for all users in an organization or all users that are part of certain segments as set by the organization. These comparisons can help users understand their company culture.
Limitations
The key limitation for the traditional comparison is that it doesn't offer detailed advice for how teams work together. This is where Team Dynamics shines.
