An Introduction to My Skills

What is My Skills?

My Skills is designed to enhance user engagement and provide a structured experience through a checklist of activities.

For end users, it deepens their interaction with the site and reinforces positive behavior with intermittent rewards.

For organization owners, this feature simplifies the start-up process with Aperian and provides an easy way to track user engagement by grouping activities into a single, deep-learning-focused skill. To see Skills in action, view the video below.

When a user clicks the My Skills header for the first time, they will be prompted to complete the GlobeSmart Profile Survey if they have not already done so. Upon completion of an activity or Skill, users are notified with an on-screen message.

The My Skills icon in the header allows users to view their recent activities and track progress. The My Skills page provides a detailed summary of their achievements and the activities still needed to earn each Skill. From there, users can easily navigate to the necessary activities to complete them.

Using and Growing with My Skills

The implementation of My Skills delivers results by following behavioral science principles such as intermittent immediate gratification (providing positive rewards immediately at irregular intervals) and the consistency principle (people continue to do things that they've gotten positive results from in the past). With these two key guiding factors, users have increased engagement with the platform.
